Yesterday i was sent this very unique message by the supposed Associate Producer of The Dr. Phil show, most likely to be yelled at by the Texan about how terrible of a person i am for promotion such childish antics. This was what I was sent:

My name is Kris Armstrong, I'm an associate producer with the Dr.
Phil show. I came across your website while researching for one of our
upcoming shows about teen trends. We are trying to find some teens that
are participating in backyard wrestling to come to the show and discuss
it with Dr. Phil. Being a fan of wrestling since I was young, I think
it would be a great fit for our show. We're basically looking for a few
kids in their teens that are into hardcore backyard wrestling that have
some videos of their matches that they would be willing to share with
us on the show. Do you know of anyone that would be interested? Also, I

I'd defend it well...however from what I have learned from these type of shows exposing BYW as Ive known a few people that have been on shows they absolutely dont give a fucking shit if you say your trained, safe, etc they want to just make it out to look like some crazy scary thing worse than drugs. They will not accept being proven wrong on there own show, it freaks them out. So going there expect to basically be humilated and nothing more.

I think Rad Hazard needs to include some clips of the GBYWN Heavyweight Champion, Matt Knicks if he goes on the show.... just saying =]

lol you have the best shot at holding your composure and speaking in byw in a good light i say go for it

the chad is right. I know how composed you are and that you have good speaking skills but these shows aren't made to put byw in a nice light. No matter how good of a job you do there are the obvious weapons they have against your side of the story that will always be there and people just aren't going to look past it. As much as I want byw to gain respect and become legitimized in the eyes of society i just don't see it happening and i'd rather see you dodge humiliation than to try and defend your pride.

legit, i was emailed in a similar manner 3 years ago by CMT (country music television) about appearing for them on a "true life" type show about byw...unfortuantely i was still a minor at the time, and you need to either be over 18 years of age or have parental consent to do something like this

Yeah but at the end of the day who edits the shows? If you do too well they can just delete your segment entirely.

I know this news reporter for CNN that wanted to do a feature on BYW and everyone on the forum she posted on jumped at the opportunity but when she saw there media she wanted nothing to do with them. She then seeked out old school yardtards and did the feature on them saying all BYW was like this even after watching multiple feds videos including my own knowing what she was saying was bullshit.

She never once talked about the vast internet community, the fact that most of that ages yarders have become legitament in indies, etc. The "Year 2000" Steriotype on BYW will never leave no matter what you do. best thing to do is be somewhat cocky, assertive, factual and not opinionated and laid back. You will NOT get your point across but you will make them look like that assholes to the general public. That is the best you will be able to do.



Oh and if you are asked to bring clips totally bring one of me doing a cool flip :p

also, could you think of any better federation to try to go represent BYW as an actual reputable sport, and not a jackass-exhibition like it once was, than 2KW? Easily the biggest following in this country in terms of subcribers, video views, ect ect in this country in BYW goes to 2KW...as you know we do more than our fair share of insane shit, but it is very controlled and nobody's ever been really hurt, and most know us for our great technical wrestling as much as they do for our insane spots

I'd say gather some clips of the old stereotypical violent vice and get the real clips of todays BYW and have it completely blow the old shit right out of the water. Show them it has become more coordinated, more controlled, less hardcore and as a positive, it helps prevent crime off city streets by keeping those involved occupied. It's an athletic art and a hobby now, not a gory horror movie.

I also notice in the message they want to deal with "hardcore backyard wrestlers", a clear example of how bad they want to trash the practice, maybe even to get another poke at professional wrestling, it's influence to teens, it's impact on society etc...

I also accredit the advise contributed by The Chad as well. You definitely can't be a laid back about it, their objective is to put you in a hot seat, analyze it and then expose it to society the way they see it and the way some parents whose kids partake in it see it and disapprove of it as well. Hope you do well Hazard!

Also don't forget to promote GBYWN!

if they chose to just focus on the trash wrestling (which was the craze of like 199 fucking 9, then w/e idc cuz its not like its something we've never seen before

So did any other feds get this message besides W.A.W. ? Only thing is they didn't mention "Hardcore," Plus they got my name right and I didn't feel the need to share this with you guys. Look the best bet to put a good light on BYW is the guys from W.A.W. All but 1 from our old to new roster have college B.A. degrees with at least 2 holding Masters. Plus we have more experience and haven't had a medical scare in our 11 years. But yes you have to realize they have final cut.
