| And it's not back or neck related. Just curious to see if anyone else has encountered something like this, or knows someone who has.
Soon after I stopped wrestling I noticed that at times I could not hold my hand steady to save my life. I would tense up and become very jittery. I began pacing constantly and persistently. Basically I would have random, uncontrollable adrenaline rushes. Mostly they were just mild tremors, but if something exciting happened (police sirens, movies, someone yelling) they would get more intense. At first I just thought it was stress related, but in the last few months it seemed to become gradually worse, while at the same time I had never been happier or more content with my life. I spoke with a med student friend about it, which was pretty informative. While it is not a disorder exactly, he said it is a very common symptom in soldiers with PTSD, and many athletes post-career. It makes sense, considering the constant adrenaline rush. To sum it up, while wrestling, I was producing a very large amount of adrenaline. If it wasn't because of a show, or practice, or while exercising, then it was anxiety related (worrying about shows, practice, school, dropping out of school, reenrolling and going to school, money, and the forty thousand personal issues I was having during that time). Since it was for a relatively extended period of time, when I was done wrestling and had subdued my anxiety, my body continued to produce adrenaline as if nothing had changed.
The cure was simple enough, though-- exercise, and exercise hard. When I quit, what routine I had left quickly ground to a halt. Once I started exercising again, however, I immediately noticed a huge improvement. I can actually relax for more than ten minutes. It seems like eventually I'll be able to wean myself back to a normal, perfectly lazy lifestyle. |

Maybe I'm misinterpreting this, but are you comparing car crash like adrenaline to wrestling? If you are, then I'm assuming that you have never been in a car crash. _____________________ |

| I can't hold still to save my life. It's been bothering me a lot lately cause kids always talk behind my back or make fun of me for how shakey I am. I have shakey hands which affects my hand writing and stuff. People always ask me why my hands shaking...and idk the answer. My leg shakes more then my hand and though. It get's worse when everyone in class put's there attention on me or if I have to answer a question or read my paper. I wouldn't say it's stage fright cause I'm always shaking but it just get's worse when attentions on me. It's not a symptom after wrestling for me though cause I still wrestle lol. Idk.

Anyone who drove head first into a telephone, while going downhill in the snow (me) would scoff at your statement. I've worked my share of deathmatches. They aren't anywhere near the same._____________________ |

| Yeah, the adrenaline rush from a car crash or something legit scary isn't even close to what I get in a match. That could be cause I fuck around for most of the match regardless. _____________________ |

| Tek, your statement about car crashes being similar to wrestling matches, as anyone who's been in a car crash or life threatening ordeal would say, is no where's near the same. I'd say it's closer to watching your favorite team win the Superbowl, World series, or NBA championship (Particularly in OT or in a really close game).

| I think it's because a lot of you don't spend a lot of time, or have never spent a lot of time in organized athletics. I've been playing sports at a high level since I was young and I've never experienced any of this. I'm cool as a cucumber. |

| Tek, I just don't think you understood the magnitude of your statement. I wouldn't compare the adrenaline rush to anything more than exercise or another sport. I've experienced more of an adrenaline rush just getting road rage for God's sake.
And yeah, this hasn't happened to me. _____________________ |

It probably depends on the sport. I can imagine team sports like football would be fine, but things like marathons and amateur wrestling, that involve intense one v one or one v many, would probably be harder. You also have to take into account that you still exercise, and still wrestle, so you most likely still have a good rhythm going. I would imagine that the feeling of restlessness that many wrestlers get during long breaks is probably related to this somehow.
And as far as car crashes go, there's no reason it wouldn't be comparable, if not the same (sorry guys... science!). When your body reacts to a life threatening situation, it does it before the situation actually occurs. So the rush you get in a near-miss situation in a car (I had one yesterday...) would be the same as a holy-shit-we're-upside-down situation. The reason you react in the first place is because your body physically considers the situation to be life-or-death, whether it actually is or not. If you see matches as pass-fail, and don't know which side you'll land on, then your body will react the moment before walking out. If you are just ready for it to be over with, or don't care if you mess up, then you won't get the same reaction. |

| To develop that point more: this would only be comparable to car crashes in matches that are extremely important to you. I remember my first pro match, where I was almost ready to vomit beforehand. That's adrenaline. When I t-boned someone who ran a red light, it felt pretty much the same. |
