| So some of you may not be aware of this but for a brief period of time, I was an avid writer. But as many of us know and go through I hit a writers block and lost my muse. So yesterday in one of my random bouts of insomnia I watched the documentary on Dr. Hunter S. Thomson ( aka Raul Duke). He is the founder of a form of writing known as "Gonzo journalism", some of you, and I have my money on tek knowing this, have read or rather have seen Fear and loathing in Las Vegas. Seeing this documentary has inspired me to want to start writing again and maybe try a story or 2 on this forum, with cams approval of course. To keep this down to brass tacks, I want to know what your thoughts on gonzo journalism is and if you'd like to see some on the GBYWN.
PS. I know a ton of people on the forum is straight edge so I know you may feel a bit wierd about "gonzo" but all I'm asking is your view on a literary point knowing how youobviously already feel about drugs. Mind you if I get good feedback and cam oks it and I do indeed start writing in this way, I will not and won't promote the use of drugs by anyone. I don't care if you do drugs and some of you already know my views on it but I think this literary change would add some interesting color to the site. Again just a thought

| We had two bags of grass, 75 pods of mescoline, 2 sheets of high power gloter acid, half a salt shaker of coke, and a galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers and laughers. We also had a quart of rum, quart of tequila, case of beer and a pint of raw ether O.O

| To be completely honest, not interested. I understand you're saying you're not promoting drug use, but the idea that that this is a 'writing style' - in itself that is promoting drug use. Idk, I feel like people are gonna do what they're gonna do regardless, but following a 'style' promotes the actions of say one Hunter S. Thompson, who was pretty much bat-shit crazy at the end of hi life due to lots of drug/alcohol use/abuse. Sounds like something that would be great Twitter fodder though. |

| I do some of my best writing when I'm high, so I understand where you're coming from with this. I'd be semi-interested in reading it, but I think DeviantArt is a better outlet for that type of thing, honestly. The thing about "Gonzo" journalism is that it isn't a writing style... it's more of a lifestyle. You aren't writing about drugs, you're writing ON drugs. I'm all for responsible and calculated drug taking and experimentation, but I am not in favor of taking a bunch of shit just to see what might happen so you can write about it. Hunter S. Thompson was, frankly, completely insane. If you think you could/would want to do what he did, that's fine... But it will definitely ruin your life. And nobody will give nearly as much of a shit in the end. |

| i love hunter. most people that copy him are just druggies . hunter wasnt a great writer cus of his drug use, but he was a great writer. maybe if i wrote books and shit everytime i was fucked up or tripped, i would have some crazy shit like this too..
that being said hunter is a revolutionary and one of my favorite authors to date.
he definitly thought outside of the box hahaa |

| Very true on both account, the way I think kinda doesnt make sense already I just want to see if I wrote in this manner anyone would read it. I'm a pretty active drug user and I just wanted to know if there was an interest to see this kind of writing. I know i wont be on hunter's level but he has inspired me.
