| I'm interested to see what the local music scenes are like in different parts of the country, around here, theres alot of folk, and alot of punk. I can post examples if anyone is interested, but also, lets just talk about local music, cause it rules. |

| My local scene use to be bumping. I use to always be in bands it was so awesome, then people started doing drugs and would not even worry about music and worrying about getting fucked up. |

| The scene here used to be pretty big actually. I think when I first started getting into it all it was primarily punk/grunge type bands... ya know, people playing music because it's fun and because they liked it. Then hardcore kinda started to sprout up a bit... but not like, reall hardcore... I mean like 14 breakdowns in a song with two vocalists doing evil chicken screams in girl pants. Then it kinda went metal for a while, and then it pretty much just died. All of the douchey metal kids kinda ruined all of our venues and were fucking assholes to everyone so nobody wanted to go to shows anymore. So then I kinda moved towards the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids area where beatdown was starting to become the new thing, shortly after the straightedge scene made a comeback. Kids that like to get hurt and get in fights (Rockin) at shows got really into that and stopped giving a FUCK about any band that doesn't sound like xTyrantx, and people kinda stopped wanting to go to a show where they pretty much knew they would become injured, so that all kinda died down.... Now I feel like the punk scene might be on it's way back around here, which I have high hopes for because my old punk band, Kno Comply, just got back together and started writing some new stuff. So fingers crossed.
I've pretty much always been the only drummer in the town I live in, so most bands that have started here I have been in. I've always kinda joked about how "I am the scene here," but honestly it's kinda true. There are maybe 4 or 5 people left in town from the old scene and not a lot of up and comers, so it's kinda up to us to bring it back I suppose you could say... and I think it's pretty obvious that I try much harder than anyone else. Haha. Not to sound cocky or arrogant, but DAMNIT I wish people could just give a shit again. I'm tired of trying for nothing and nobody. But eh...
I am local music in Iowa. Suck it.
AMP too... his bands always kick ass. And he knows everyone in the bands that I think kick ass around here. |
