From what I've heard, a month of wrestling back then provided as much story progression as an episode of Raw today. It sounded like there were a shit ton of squash matches back in the day, especially with there being fewer pay-per-views; they had to really draw out builds between title defenses. Today, wrestling moves faster and is more exciting. If they went back to their old format, WWE would be boring as hell. I do agree that they shouldn't make title reigns quite so short; four months or more should be the minimum. At least Kane's reign, which I've enjoyed more for the story than the matches, has been a good length. |
