| The GBYWN Gazette: August 2010Issue: 1Published by: Dee Miller-----------------------------------Every month, you can expect news, notes and updates on a portion of the occurrences befalling upon the backyard wrestling world. Any news acquired will be publicized in this brand new issue entitled The GBYWN Gazette. -GBYWN Columns ReturningGBYWN Columns feature has been reactivated. If you are a community member, you may blog and share your thoughts on life, situations, other topics and interests once a month and have them posted on the main page under the news header. Check out the all new columns from Mike Damage and DC Doom for this month.-GBYWN Music VideoA new GBYWN music video is set to be comprised by GBYWN Co. Scout Commissioner and Owner of TBYWS, Dee Miller, who has taken the initiative to create a new video. The last video compiled for the community was put together in February of 2009 and Miller stated that it had gone on too long enough before someone jumped on the project. He is accepting media from anyone apart of the site that wants to enter in footage for the project. Visit here to submit your video files.-Twist Becomes a Pro WrestlerThe following was posted by Twist on his Facebook account on August 8:“Just had the best day ever. I am now officially a professional wrestler. I couldn’t have asked for a better day.”GBYWN certainly wishes Twist the best in his professional career.-Rad Hazard’s The Prodigy ProjectGBYWN Backyard Ring Wrestler of 2007, Legend of 2008, Most Outstanding performer of 2009 and one of the all-time grand performers in the backyard, The Prodigy, has been elected as the forth wrestler, and overall, fifth inductee into the GBYWN Hall of Fame by Rad Hazard, the Chairman of the Global Backyard Wrestling Nation which is the alliance branch of the GBYWNews. Prodigy began his backyard tenure in 1995 aspired by the works of wrestling. He later started conducting himself in a pro-style in the backyard wrestling scene for a lengthy couple of years designing some of his own wrestling gear, exercising his skills, and producing quality matches for the backyard. Consequently, Prodigy became a backyard wrestling star of his own looked up to and respected by many in the community.Several backyard title victories gained from a handful of federations have only propped his abilities and credibility while waging war in some of his best rivalries with Voltage, CJ Cross, his brother Eruption, Joe Randa, and Kevin Porter of prominently Championship Wrestling Association (CWA). After his CWA venture, he wrestled briefly for spin-off federation Epic-1 Wrestling where he also won their primary belt. Since 2008, he has attended and wrestled at many GBYWN sponsored supershows including RLSW No Remorse 3 & 4, BWA F*ck Your Fed, Come Fight Ours; CCW Welcome to the Real World, and his last, Revival Just Another Supershow 5, where he was forced to hang up his boots after a sustained injury. The GBYWN proudly honors The Prodigy for all of his matches, and moments contributed to backyard wrestling. A great compilation was posted for Prodigy back in January, check out this amazing video personifying his merits here.A special video package is in preparation to commemorate this great athlete. If you have a short appreciative video message you would like to contribute, film it, and send it in to Rad Hazard.-GBYWN Promo Challenge 2010Confirmation has been received by GBYWN President Cam that the GBYWN Promo Challenge 2010 will kickoff sometime in the month of September. Last year, the challenge was presented in July with multiple entries including from NJXWF/EWA’s Maximum, ECBW/UPWC’s G Fatal, XSU’s Johnny Blade, LWF’s JLV and KKW’s Denim Dave, but ultimately the winner was Rad Hazard who executed a moving monologue promo during his storyline quest to destroy backyard wrestling.-GBYWN WrassleMania Operating since 2006 and sponsoring many big supershows, GBYWN has never run a nationwide event for backyard wrestling considered the Mecca of them all. This was until Rad Hazard pitched the idea to orchestrate a territorial-based across-the-US backyard wrestling extravaganza inspired by WrestleMania 2 which held events in 3 different parts in a simulcast over an entire evening. To have the event planned successful, Hazard’s envision is for 4-6 supershows in various regions to span a 2 or so week period or perhaps up to a month if necessary in regions such as for example New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Indiana, and California (whereas uniquely some can even be held on the same day) and the event would be labeled GBYWN WrassleMania: (Insert Show Name) in June of 2011. We will have more details as this concept reaches more developments. -Breakfall.net Shuts DownBreakfall.net (BFN), an Australian-themed rival community of GBYWN owned by Chris Cryptic and Jonathan Brovata has shut down its website. The website opened in 2007 to emphasize Australian yarding after a discontentment with Australia’s BYW presence, but did allow other international federations to join. It presented a unique site for backyard wrestling, offering user-generated profiles slightly like a Myspace where you could update federation info, post pictures and upload videos. The site engaged in a storied history with GBYWN since 2007 with both communities scrambling for visitation, membership, and supremacy among the top backyard site at one time, and now defunct, Backyard Wrestling Link. Ultimately due to the consistent unavailability of the webmaster, and a broken registration code, the site was mostly forced into stagnance and inactivity since around 2008 and eventually its domain ceased to be renewed this year.-Fred Yehi Calls Out Chris Castle BACW Wrestling’s and Georgia Wrestling Corporation’s (GWC) Fred Yehi has laid out a challenge to Indiana Championship Wrestling’s (ICW) own Chris Castle. Check out what Fred Yehi has to say here.-Some Backyard Events in August and Upcoming Later This Year The August Listing is as follows:KHW 209 vs. OWF: The Infiltration - Aug.4 in Merced, CaliforniaEWA Closer To the Edge – Aug.7 in Avenel, New JerseyBEWA Eclipse II – Aug.8 in Baltimore, MarylandCWA Velocity Rush 2010 - Aug.12 in Manhattan, New YorkEWA Summer Sizzler 2010 - Aug.14 in Avenel, New JerseyDWA Homecoming II - Aug.14&15 in Davenport, IowaRSW Rage – Aug.15 in Red Car, United KingdomNew Era: League of Extraordinary Grapplers - Aug.21 in Norfolk, ConnecticutTKO As Daylight Dies 2 - Aug.21 in Pembroke Pines, FloridaBEWA Warfare & Chaos – Aug.21 in Baltimore, MarylandICWS Affliction – Aug.21 in Perth, AustraliaCWA Burning Zone 2010 – Aug.26 in Manhattan, New YorkXSU Epic Battle 2010 - Aug.27 in Madison Heights, Missouri EWA Who’s F*ckin’ Tonight? – Aug.28 in Avenel, New JerseyWAW Ffubmorial 4 – Aug.28 in Waco, TexasBXW Damn You North Korea II - Aug.28 in Allentown, PennsylvaniaICW Midwest Extravaganza 2 – Aug 28&29 in Anderson, Indiana - Watch hype video hereNSW No More Games – Aug.29 in Union City, New JerseySome Upcoming Events Later This Year: BWA/FWA Presents: Our Final Goodbye – Sept. 5&6 in Justice, IllinoisOWF Season Premiere Scrimmage - Sep.25 in Merced, CaliforniaOWF Homecoming – Oct.2 in Merced, CaliforniaBXW Insania 3: Skured? – Oct.2 in Allentown, PennsylvaniaEWA Elite Tournament 2010 – Oct 16 in Avenel, New YorkTWF Date with Destiny – Oct.22&23 or 29&30 in Lakewood, New JerseyNTDW 35: Calamity Cup – Oct. in Crawfordsville, Indiana ACW Backyard Xmas V – Dec.11&12 in Clearwater, FloridaAusBYWeekLCWA South Coast Fest - Dec.16&17 in AustraliaXAW Jobfest - Dec.19 in Australia in AustraliaIYHWA The Annual – Dec.21&22 in Australia Events are subject to cancellation, location changes, and/or date change.-What’s in store for September in BYW?A loss for the backyard wrestling world will be beheld within the slated closure of Midwest federation alliance BWA/FWA known separately as Bridgeview Wrestling Association which opened in 2005 and Freelance Wrestling Alliance that opened in 2006, two federations that joined together in 2009. BWA/FWA Owner Shooter, despite announcements to shut down its operations previously, will indefinitely wrap up the run of the federation and his retirement tour with the last honorary event, BWA/FWA: Our Final Goodbye in Justice, Illinois on September 4 & 5.The postponing of the third edition of one of backyard wrestling’s biggest supershows, Jersey Wrestling Allstars III originally scheduled for June 5 could be forwarded to take place on September 5. The reason given for the mishap of the event occurrence was due to a high dropout rate for the show. JWA Official Ryan Rage is looking to pull together for a date, it is not exactly certain if it will be on September 5.The GBYWN Promo Challenge 2010 is in the works of beginning sometime in September.- Canadian BYW NewsRespect Glory Wrestling (RGW) of Ontario made their return this month to backyard wrestling hosting their comeback event, Don't Call It A Comeback. The event can be seen here.Vancouver Wrestling League (VWL) has slowed their progress down recently not having executed a show for some time passed. It has also been stated that one of the key people were accepted for pro wrestling training.A Facebook page entitled United Backyard Wrestling Alliance (UBWA) has pinpointed at a federation alliance in Ontario that hold annual shows but don’t seemingly surface the internet. -American BYW NewsSeveral supershows such as BWA Supercard of Destiny, Wrestlefezt X, X2X Wrestlegasm, WZW Domination 8, Revival Backyard Supremacy 5, CWA/E1/PWS Day of Reckoning 6, and CCWA/FIWA Summer in Florida supershows have media available on YouTube and/or GBYWN for viewing. Check all of these spectacles out today if you haven't.GBYWN North American Championships have been retired by Rad Hazard. Hazard announced on Backyard Wrestling Weekly that he felt there was no North American cross-border travelling, competing, and defense to justify the purpose of the championships and decided to pull the plug on it and went in favor of his Championship Initiative idea, converting federation titles into GBYWN territorial titles.Mike Williams of EWA and TWF has announced his new concept in backyard wrestling of an all tag team federation called Comradery Wrestling Organization (CWO) where all matches, or most of them, are tag matches with the primary belt being tag championships. Williams has stated that he spoke to EWA host Joe Hall on hosting the federation in his yard on EWA off days. The idea also hits strikingly interesting to the community population spinning their own proposition on it to hold an all tag team supershow. More on this as it develops.Rad Hazard has started implementing a new kayfabe concept called the GBYWN Conquest Cup. How the idea will work is that Hazard will calculate match victories from every GBYWN sanctioned and sponsored supershow events and the individual with the most wins against the most different wrestlers by the end of the year will win the Cup and a GBYWN World Heavyweight Championship shot.A new upstart backyard wrestling federation, New Age Xtreme Wrestling (NAX) has joined the South Carolina Backyard Wrestling Alliance. The promotion is looking to change the future of backyard wrestling in the state.Candlewood BackYard Wrestling's (CBYW) Khatonic has reported that CBYW recently regained rights to their current hosting area inside a barn they were close to losing. Apparently, one of the wrestler's who acquired permission to host from his parents was relocating and informed the CBYW crew that in turn, they could no longer wrestle there. Morever, the wrestler's father gave the permit to CBYW to continue holding their festivities.-UK BYW NewsTotal Backyard Wrestling (TBW) prepared to launch their reopening airing a promo video promoting their Rebirth show on July 25. Moreover, the event bombed when many of its wrestlers ceased to show up. The sole match hosted was Lucas vs. Alex Harte for the TBW World Championship. The GBYWN England X-Division Championship has been sanctioned in the UK in Red Star Wrestling (RSW). The title as part of the GBYWN Championship Initiative replaced the RSW Rage Championship. The current reigning champion is Chris Clash. Also, the GBYWN England Heavyweight Championship has been unified with the AGW Heavyweight Championship in UK federation, Anything Goes Wrestling (AGW).Ultimate British Wrestling (UBW) is set to hold its One Last Stand show on September 4.-Australian BYW NewsIn May, Australian Wrestling Grand Prix (AWGP) had merged their Smashmouth Championship with the GBYWN Australian Heavyweight Championship to conceive the Global Championship to represent Australian backyard wrestling. However, Global Backyard Wrestling Nation has given status over to Inner City Wrestling Syndicate (ICWS) as the Australian representatives of GBYWN, and on July 25, the Australian Heavyweight Title was reactivated with Tazer winning and reigning the current champion. Tazer plans to defend the title on a constant basis at any backyard promotions in the country. In Your House Wrestling Alliance (IYHWA) has not produced any videos in over 5 months with their latest 2-day event being IYHWA The Annual. The most recent notification from April derives from their website explaining that the lapse in time was accounting for a re-branding of the federation. The Australian circuit is planning for AusBYWeek to take place in late December. The events would be LCWA South Coast Fest on 16&17, a one day break on the 18, XAW Jobfest on the 19, a one take break on the 20, and IYHWA The Annual 2 on the 21&22. Talks about a Heatfest 2011 supershow event are also underway. More on this as more information comes available.-Austria BYW NewsXtreme Wrestling Alliance Austria posted their return show in May. Check out some of, if not, the best backyard wrestling in Austria here.-German BYW NewsThe biggest event for German backyard wrestling was back in June on the 11&13 for the supershow, German Backyardfest IV which featured the return of German yarder, Kman. Limited media can be found on the web. Check out a tag team match from the event here.-New Zealand BYW NewsSome months ago, a federation arose to recognition nationwide in New Zealand going by Northview Federation (NVF), a backyard wrestling indy-type federation organized more professionally than typical federations and offering some quality action. In February, the promotion was featured on the Newstalk show, TVNZ TV3 ‘Campbell Live’ on February 22, the day they filmed their live Haybarn Havoc 2010 event in Hamilton, New Zealand showcasing some wrestling festivities for the broadcast. Check out the news broadcast video here.-Sweden BYW NewsA new federation opens up based out of Orebro, Sweden in June called Orebro Xtreme Wrestling Alliance. It was stated on the OXWA website that the owner John Diggory was constructing a base until July so the federation could run until he begins his summer work time in late July. OXWA will also hold their Full Circle event they are promoting as the newest event in Swedish backyard wrestling on August 20.-Russia BYW NewsIndependent Championship Wrestling (ICW), a federation that started early this year showing some potential recently posted their event Battle for Glory which was held dating back to March 21.
