It's news in that it's relaying information mostly unheard of by the users. We're on a backyard wrestling forum, I don't expect to be presented with genuine journalism. "Highlighting forum topics" sounds good enough to me.

Then why don't you just read the forums? Ya know, like you're doing right now. And don't put that in quotes. That's literally what it is. It's forum titles that when you click it brings you directly to the topic.

News is information being provided in a relevent and coherent manner. It has a certain structure. It's not someone making an announcement in a forum and the link being forwarded to a main page. If news was nothing but open discussion on forums then what's the point of newspapers, broadcast, and news websites?

I'm just stating my opinion on how Global Backyard Wrestling News isn't a news site. It's a forum for the backyard wrestling community. I'm not saying I don't like the forum or posting here. I just don't see why it's being called something it isn't.

I'm not looking to start a fight with you, Jay. You're cool and I know you're just trying to defend Cam because he does run and host this community site for all of us. But I don't see why I can't at least voice my opinion on the matter.

On your last post to me, I don't check the forums thoroughly enough to come across every bit of information of note. That's why using the portal to relay interesting happenings is useful to me.

Really, I think you're confusing news with journalism. I think news can take any form, so long as it's genuinely conveying information. Journalism should do so in an engaging and preferably literary format.

You're perfectly welcome to state your opinion, but we're also entitled to remark on it. A fundamental philosophy of debate is that if you let a comment go unchecked, more people will take it to heart. I disagreed with what you said and as I'd like the news' current format to stay up on the portal, I responded to you with the hope your opinion won't spread to others. It's nothing personal.

I like the forum, I just don't feel he's connected to the community as a "leader" should be. Really my point of this thread was that there isn't a use for BYW "news" anymore, if there ever was, though the forum in itself is very useful on the other hand.

But, I'm gonna drop it for now, because Cam PMed me telling me to keep my thoughts to myself.

I agree with Cam and Cubed. Cam puts his time and effort into trying to make this place better and so people can find out about shows and what's happening in the Backyar Community(both of which is news). He try's his best to make this place great and all people do is argue and be ungreatfull. So in my opinion I think all that should change.

If there were no News page there would be one less thing that you women would be able to argue about and you know you love to complain
