| I agree T.O. I'm not a very good wrestler and alot of people don't know who I am. So when I try to say what I think and say something about someone, everyone goes off on me. This place is becoming a community where either your good and people listen to you and like you, or your not very good and people hate you and don't like you. That's what I feel about it. |

| Oh.... you mean.... the Link? Laff.
I definitely feel the cliqueyness around here, but I feel like it's actually getting better, rather than worse. With guys from the Midwest driving all the way down to PA and vice versa, I really think guys are finally meeting each other in person and realizing that some of the people they didn't like as much aren't really so bad.
I can definitely see the whole "Holier than thou" attitude in a lot of people that have been around longer, and are better than some of the new kids, but as with all places, that's unavoidable. You can't really get rid of any of them, because they're the guys that are setting the bar, so to speak. However, keeping them around cause tension. So there's inevitably going to be a bit of unevenness amongst members and so on and so forth.
I wish more of the "vets" or people that are doing really well and setting the pace for the younger guys would try to help out the younger guys a bit more. Personally, I would rather work guys like Shawn Selby than guys like Focalin. The reason being, if we don't help these newer guys get better and kind of nurture them in a sense, when we're all done, there's going to be nothing left. Granted, this isn't pro wrestling exactly or whatever, but I feel like backyard wrestling has transformed into something special that a lot of people take a lot of pride in. Backyard guys are starting to really blow up and make names for themselves in the past few years, and if we all leave and everybody left has no idea what they're doing and nobody to look up to anymore, anyone that knows or finds out that any of the old veterans used to yard will immediately associate them with the shitty yarders instead of the good ones. This being said, I know there will never be total acceptance in the pro world of backyarding, but still....
Another thing that I think has taken over this board, and in a very negative way, is people posting in gimmicks. This isn't the place for that shit. Be your character or gimmick at shows, or during matches, or in promos... Nobody needs or wants to read or see people making gimmick posts. All it does is give people false impressions and cause tension and arguing across the board. Gimmick posting is not productive, it's not funny, and it's not necessary. I really wish people would just knock it off, tbh.
These might just be my own personal thoughts, but I feel they are pretty accurate and relevant.

| I don't try to hate people anymore...i still end up hating a lot of people however. I hated the midwest before because they all suck at being safe, but now I just hope they all legit injure eachother with their terribly placed lariats and horrible kicks *coughbsnowprodigyhowsyourneckbrocough*...But thats no reason to hate them as people...but I did...and now I just don't care at all and rarely post...also...people who take it too seriously suck too. It's backyard wrestling...I don't care if its the only thing in your life that mkes you feel famous or "Cool"...its still just a bunch of dudes play fighting for fun... |

| Excuse me sir, but I am quite possibly the safest guy on here to work, and I am very Midwest. Haha... But I do agree that not enough people pay attention to protecting each other. People just want to hit big spots without learning how to do them first.
And while I do agree to a certain extent that you shouldn't take it too seriously since it is just fake fighting in tights, you should at least take it seriously enough to take care of each other. Before you start yarding, you should first understand that this is a give and take... You can't just set out to drop people on their heads and kick people as hard as you can and expect t get over. You need to be able to take what you give, and you need to take the time to ensure that what you are doing isn't going to cause someone else to get injured. Before you do something to somebody, I think it would be best to think to yourself "would I take this exactly the way I'm about to do it? Would I want someone to not protect my neck similar to how I'm not going to protect this guy's neck?" High spots and head drops are nice, but when people get shoot hurt because of them, it isn't worth it. So if you're going to be a backyarder, at least have the courtesy to take it seriously enough to be safe. |

| I meant seriously in the Tek calls himself a legend and complains about paying dues in UWA and jobbing to Jonah in the first round kind of way...I agree you have to take protecting people seriously...I just watched Sic Ric vs Chris Castle and I can honestly say that it was the most unsafe match I have seen in a long time. It's just pathetic that all these receipts have to be dangerous...you realize you can still hit someone hard without potentially hurting them right? |

Made me laugh when it probably shouldn't have.
But really, I completely agree that there is a lot of hate and a lot of cliques (just look at the usergroups tbh) going on. The new guys aren't getting over because older dudes aren't giving them a chance. People razz on new guys like me because they see one match of mine and go "Oh that was shit" and never bother to look at the good stuff. There's like the big divide between the people who are over and those who aren't and it seems that to get over you basically have to simultaneouslly suck everyone's cock without them noticing and also almost die taking a poorly worked move. And the older guys seem to hate almost on principle. I look at dudes like Sic Ric (though we've come to something of an understanding) and Ian Finnegan (though he hasn't really said anything to me for a while) who "hate me" and I haven't done anything to really deserve that hate and a lot of guys haven't. It's like razzing on freshmen; everybody was a freshmen, but because you're to the point where people like you for whatever reason, you feel that instead of helping the young guys out, you should shit on them because they're where you were a few years back and you're seeing them grow and that scares you. For a lot of guys, I bet BYW is the only thing in life they're really good at, and to see young guys get better and slowly start to surpass them scares the hell out of them. Luckily, there are a lot of genuinely nice guys in BYW. Even people I haven't officially met (Bsnow for example) treat me with some respect, generally. For the last seven months, I've taken BYW a little more seriouslly and try to make it to shows, and I've met plenty of people willing to accept me and show me some guidance, but there are a lot of people who won't even look at me because I haven't been around for very long. But really, I look at those guys and then I look at the guys who help others out and are nice people by default, and the nice dudes are the ones actually going on to indy careers, so eh. Seems like the nice guys do finish last. And I think a lot of this hate does come from not ever meeting people. I used to hate Barton, but after meeting him (and staying up all night at SOD and watching IoWIN's tomfoolery i.e. "The board") I find that's he 's an allright guy and he's cool with me, too. These guys who are complete assholes online to people never meet them in real life because they're afraid to be assholes in real life. It's the Internet itself that allows these guys to be jerks because they're probably allright dudes who just want to let off steam and choose to do so by using this website as a crutch to being a dick._____________________ | tonyficaccio wrote: | not badass is ao and bushleauge. |

| well, first off. i kind of agree with the whole cliche of "cliques" on this board. But then again, I hardly go to shows and I'm friends with a good amount of people on here.
whenever i watch a video i try to leave constructive criticism. i know i'm not a flawless wrestler, i have bad matches, everyone does.
but, the younger kids do have to take what people say to heart and not automatically think that they're getting crapped on. every match i was in until the last 1 1/2-2 years was always crapped on. but, i took it as "this is how i can get better" and i have.
final note: if i say anything to your video, or your post that might come off sounding that i hate you, realize it's only sarcasm. the only wrestler on this forum that i can't stand is steve hardy...because he's fucking terrible. |
