I usually go to a store like (the Canadian equivalent of) Walgreen's and get the arts & crafts style razor

and tape around the entire thing, leaving one corner exposed. I then put another small piece of tape over that, then tape it to my wrist under my wrist tape.

Way back I was told the best way to blade is along your hairline (of course,) and to push the blade as far as it can go into your scalp, then pull for about 1/4 - 1/2 inch. It's all you'll need.

If you want to ensure more color, take some aspirin about an hour before the match. Aspirin is a blood thinner, and will make the color run faster. But don't take too much or the cut won't clot over properly

Plus, getting busted open hardway usually entails more head trauma that you don't need.

I got no problems with other people blading, I think it adds a lot especially for a grudge match type of thing, I just have my own personal thing that I'll never blade in a deathmatch. I just feel that wrestling has enough things going against it where people think it's fake, and you're most likely going to bleed in a DM anyways, so why do a "fake bleed"? It's like crying wolf, if the audience knows you blade, they might doubt how you got your other cuts aswell.

I've always been told to take a blade like yza said, but cut it into smaller bits that are harder to see. Not too small to where you can't hold on to them, but smallish... Then, when you do your wrist tape, put the blade a little ways in under the end of the tape. Fold the end of the tape in on itself so you have a way to get in there. When you go to do the gig, pull the tape back enough to get the blade out (this works best if you can do it as you're falling down or bumping or whatever.... but that's tough). Then, when you're on the ground, sell onto your stomach and grab at your head. This way it looks like you're just selling it regularly, but you have the blade in your hand, so you're actually cutting discretely.

Push the blade in until you kinda feel it pop a little bit. It won't be a "pop" really, but you should feel it break the skin. You don't want to accidentally push it in too far and hit your skull, so don't just jab it in there. Then, once you feel it break the skin, just cut a little bit. You don't need a large cut to get some good color. Head wounds bleed well, especially with aspirin. Then discard the blade by either tossing it towards a corner, placing it back under your wrist tape, or call the ref over to check on you and give it to him... Not enough people use the ref to communicate and shit like that... Shame.

Another way I've seen some people do it is by taping the blade to their finger... It looks kinda obvious to me, but to the average fan it just looks like you have a gimped finger... If you do it right this way, you can have the edge of the blade stick out just enough to cut yourself without bothering with the tape and without cutting the shit out of your opponent during the match... I'm not a fan of this way, but it seems to work well for the guys around here usually.

Another thing that could help, should you not cut deep enough or if you aren't bleeding very well, is having your opponent kinda punch down on your forehead. They don't need to completely potato you, but kinda use their palm to strike downwards near your cut, so it opens up a little more.

This is all totally hearsay for me, as I have never actually gigged. I just don't want to bother with it. Seems like there's too much that I could fuck up and too much to try and hide... so I just say fuck it. I don't need to gig in front of 20 people anyways... haha.

ive always been too much of a puss. i had someone blade me before and they did a fantastic job, Hybrid. Not even a scratch left on my face but boy did the blood gush out
